About Jussi Puikkonen
I'm a Finnish documentary photographer based in Amsterdam. I grew up in rural Finland and my work is about people, subcultures and the places that shape them. I'm drawn to things that are easy to overlook or dismiss.
My latest book, Cruise (Garret Publications, 2025), documents pilluralli, a Finnish youth subculture where young people drive slow loops through small towns at night in their first cars. I spent five years photographing it. The book has been featured in Stern, Dazed, WePresent and Huck Magazine, among others.
I was co-founder of Kasino A4, one of Finland's most awarded independent magazines. My first book, On Vacation, was published by Edition Patrick Frey.
I work editorially for publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Der Spiegel, and commercially for clients including Google, Sonos and Oatly.
